Sailrite Industrial Sewing Machine: Ultrafeed LS-1 Base Walking Foot Straight Stitch

The Base LS-1 straight stitch Ultrafeed™ has all the features of the classic machine with some important upgrades. The PowerPlus balance wheel with the newPosi-Pin clutch system has been added for more slow speed power and control.

The LS-1 straight stitch Ultrafeed™ makes feeding heavy, bulky and even sticky fabrics like window material a breeze. On most sewing machines the presser foot simply holds the fabric down and all movement is accomplished with a single, bottom feed dog. The Ultrafeed™ uses a mechanical "Walking" presser foot that moves forward and back in time with the feed dog to ensure the layers of fabric are moving together and easily through the machine. Since it feeds so well, the stitch length stays very consistent. And, because the walking foot is designed with a high lift, it better accommodates thick fabric assemblies.

The all new Posi-Pin clutch system is Sailrite’s solution to a slipping clutch. Drive is engaged and disengaged by positioning a specially designed pin through holes in the balance wheel and wheel bushing. The Posi-Pin clutch is easy to use and results in 100% power transfer from the balance wheel to the machine’s needle.  The disengaged mode of the Posi-Pin allows for easy and quick bobbin winding.

Also included with the LS-1 Base package is the PowerPlus balance wheel.  The PowerPlus wheel is a molded plastic duplicate of Sailrite’s best wheel, the Monster II balance wheel. The PowerPlus greatly increases slow speed power and control.  The PowerPlus wheel is twice the diameter of the standard wheel (which comes with the Ultrafeed “Classic” models) and the resulting gear change is the primary reason for the power increase.

Its variable stitch length mechanism allows for very long straight stitches up to 6mm. This is great for sewing Sunbrella which tends to needle pucker (the longer the stitch the less the pucker). And, its lever activated reverse makes back stitching easy. A welting tunnel in the presser foot allows for accurate piping installation

• Consistent Stitch Length. Because of the machine's excellent feeding. It walks over thick hems and makes the transition from thick to thin without skipping stitches.

  Super Reverse. Most machines have problems sewing in reverse but not the Ultrafeed. Its lever activated reverse makes back stitching easy. In fact you can sew for long distances in reverse.
  
  Thick Fabric Assemblies. At 43 lbs. the Ultrafeed head has the bulk to stay put when handling heavy fabric assemblies. And, because the walking foot is designed with a high lift, it better accommodates thick assemblies. Sew as many as 10 layers of canvas.
  
  Power. The machine is powered by a 1.5 amp motor. A cogged belt and pulley jack drive system slows the machine, increases power and eliminates slippage. This is an amazingly powerful machine. "Great for cottage industries!"

  Sew fabric layers as thick as 5/16" and as many as 10 layers of Sunbrella on the Sailrite Ultrafeed. Make and repair cushions, covers, biminis, dodgers, bags... Do home sewing. Even make and repair sails by adding an extra row of stitches (to compensate for the lack of a zigzag stitch). This machine is really a workhorse and it's fun to use.
